Lifelong Learning

Leonardo

  • Leonardo innovation transfer project
Since spring 2007 BK Rheydt-Mülfort has been establishing a project partnership with partner schools in Finland and the Netherlands as part of a Leonardo innovation transfer project. In the course of this project theories about the ECVET are checked with reference to their practice relevance.
  • Leonardo mobility for teachers
Since 2007 Leonardo programmes have also supported the mobility of teachers. BK Rheydt-Mülfort takes the chance to co-operate with the I.E.S Santiago Hernandez Vocational College in Zaragoza. As part of this project teachers who deal with the development of teaching units about e-learning take part in an exchange.
  • Leornardo mobility for students
  • Leonardo partnerships
Since 2007 there has been a project with our Finnish partner school, which deals with the international comparison of quality management systems at vocational colleges.

Comenius

  • Comenius 1 school partnerships
The objective of our project “Regions of opportunities” with our partners in Norway and Finland is the development of a long-lasting co-operation between the schools and the companies in the fields of business and the understanding for a holistic and intercurricular work. During the three-year-period the students and teachers will work with a three-step-model: analysis of the present situation, discovery of challenges and the search of chances within the fields of “sales and services”, “business structures”, “political and demographical structures” and “Learning / teaching methods” in the regions. By using the method of “project-based learning” the project participants can be both integrated and differentiated. During the first year the activities aimed at are: developing websites in each of the partner countries as well as developing a joint website, arranging video conferences in order to exchange results and ideas, arranging company visits and expert lectures and organizing the exchange of teachers and students. The project aims at demonstrating to the students the value of an international co-operation, giving them a better understanding of their region and arousing the interest in entrepreneurship. In addition, the teachers can gain experience in developing new pedagogical methods.
  • Comenius 2.2c – in service training
Within the context of continuing education courses supported by the EU our school is active in the following two directions:
On the one hand teachers from our school take part in continuing education courses in other European countries. On the other hand our school annually offers a continuing education course in Cologne (duration: one week) entitled “Start up and co-ordinate your European partnership by using electronic learning and communication systems”. This rather popular course can only be attended by foreign colleagues.

Comenius teacher exchange

Starting in the school year 2006/2007 there have been teacher exchanges. The first teachers to participate are a female colleague from our school and a Spanish male colleague from a school in Zaragoza, Spain. They exchange their working places for one year.
