Stredná odborná škola (Slovakia) PDF Print E-mail
Stredná odborná škola, Bzinská 11, Nové Mesto nad Váhom is a secondary vocational school aimed at Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.

The town Nové Mesto nad Váhom is situated 25 km from Trenčín (the centre of Self-Governing Region), 100 km from Bratislava (the capital of Slovakia) and has a population of approximately 22 thousand. The region has an advantageous location, being served by major road and railway routes that support the development of industry and agriculture and provide preconditions for the prosperity of the region as a whole. In the region, there is a strong demand to employ those leavers of our school, who are properly educated and meet actual needs of regional employers. Therefore the school tries to closely cooperate with all regional social partners to regularly update the contents of school curricula accordingly. The school seeks new methods and forms of teaching using ICT, ways how to motivate students, and teach them to think critically and creatively.  A goal of the school is to use an open-source e-learning platform Moodle to educate students more effectively.

There has been a long partnership between Berufskolleg Rheydt-Mülfort für Wirtschaft and Verwaltung and Stredná odborná škola. They co-operated in various projects e.g. Leonardo da Vinci mobility projects (IVT, VETPRO), the Comenius project “Cooler World” and the Leonardo da Vinci project „Enhancing trainees‘ learning motivation and achievement  by identifying their learning styles (EnTraiMo)“.
